The nursing home "Ajarsivasik" Qaqortoq is looking for 1 department head with a health professional background for the dementia department Ivik.

The position of department head is available from October 1, 2026, or by agreement.

The nursing home has room for 48 residents, spread over 3 departments.

The dementia department has room for 11 residents and exists as a separate department.

We are a nursing home that is open to innovation, development, with future visions where optimizing the quality of life and well-being of the elderly is the focus.

Responsibilities and areas of responsibility

• Be the department head for the staff in the dementia department
• Basic care and direct assistance
• Participate in development
• Contribute to activities for residents
• Function as a mentor
• Work to ensure that residents feel safe and have a meaningful life
• Ensure quality of care
• Share responsibility for professionalism in all situations
• Medication dosing
• Pre-assess residents in case of illness
• Proactive in developing and maintaining one's own professionalism
• The position includes on-call duties, including on-call every 3 – 4 weekends
• Responsibility for conducting rounds with the doctor may occur
• Prevention of the use of force takes place.

Qualifications and requirements

• Educated as a Health Assistant or similar
• Has leadership experience
• Has experience working with dementia patients.
• Initiative and ability to involve colleagues.
• Bilingual, Greenlandic and Danish (not a requirement)
• Welcoming to all residents as well as colleagues
• Clean criminal record
• Is stable, robust, and accommodating.
• Has good knowledge of the law on the use of force.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreements between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing can be provided, for which payment is made according to applicable rules.

We would like to point out that there is a long waiting time for staff housing, employment can take effect when a staff housing can be offered.

Start date as soon as possible or by further agreement.
