At Nukissiorfiit, digitization, automation, and Operational Technology (OT) play an increasingly important role in the development of the future energy supply in Greenland.

We operate and develop critical infrastructure that ensures the supply of electricity, water, and heat to all of Greenland every day. Our energy system consists of diesel, hydropower, solar, wind, and battery solutions distributed across 70 independent power grids, which places high demands on stable, secure, and standardized OT and SRO systems.

Therefore, we are looking for two operational consultants with an interest in and experience with OT, automation, and control systems, who wish to work with critical infrastructure and contribute to the ongoing development of our technical platforms.

As an operational consultant, you will be part of Production Support at the headquarters in Nuuk, where you will play a central role in the development of our OT architecture, standardization of automation solutions, and technical support for our production facilities.

We are expanding the area and are therefore looking for two profiles to strengthen the technical support, standardization, and further development of our OT environment. Depending on experience and competencies, responsibilities can be distributed between the two positions to ensure we have the best professional skills in play.

Your role

As an operational consultant within OT and Automation, you will have a central role in the development, standardization, and quality assurance of control and regulation systems across Nukissiorfiit's production facilities.

You will be an important sparring partner for IT and operations, and you will work closely with colleagues, projects, and external suppliers. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to influence the development of our OT architecture and contribute to the ongoing digitalization of our production environments.

We are looking for two profiles, and depending on experience and competencies, responsibilities can be distributed to ensure we have the best professional skills in play.

Your primary tasks

  • Provide technical support within OT and SRO systems to towns and settlements across Greenland
  • Contribute to troubleshooting, optimization, and further development of automation solutions
  • Review and quality assure programming and project documentation
  • Ensure the quality of deliveries from external automation suppliers
  • Develop and implement standards for control and regulation
  • Contribute to standardization across production facilities
  • Support segmentation and structuring of OT networks as part of OT security
  • Participate in technological development and increase the digital maturity of the organization

The position spans from hands-on and technical sparring to strategic development of our OT environment.

Focus areas

Automation

  • Troubleshooting and optimization of PLC controls
  • Review and validation of programming documentation
  • Structuring of software and version control
  • Ensuring consistent programming principles

Standardization and quality assurance

  • Development of standards for control and regulation
  • Preparation of requirement specifications for new facilities and upgrades
  • Technical review, FAT, and SAT of supplier deliveries
  • Support for commissioning and handover

OT security

  • Segmentation of OT and PLC networks
  • Support for separation between IT and OT environments
  • Risk assessment of OT architecture
  • Contribute to the establishment of security standards, including remote access solutions

What can you expect?

You will be part of Production Support at the headquarters in Nuuk, which supports all of Greenland.

You will join a strong technical team with specialists in areas such as renewable energy, hydropower, electricity distribution, electricity production, water, and heat. We emphasize professionalism, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. You will have a specialist role with significant influence on the development of the area.

Some travel activity related to the positions can also be expected.

Who are you?

We welcome candidates with various profiles and experiences. You could be a marine engineer, automation engineer, electrical engineer, or have another technical background.

We envision that you:

  • Have experience with SRO, SCADA, or OT systems
  • Have worked with PLC controls and automation solutions
  • Have an understanding of industrial networks and OT security
  • Have experience with technical documentation and quality assurance
  • Have an interest in standardization, digitalization, and technological development
  • Have experience with data collection and analysis
  • Work in a structured manner and manage to maintain an overview in complex tasks
  • Have good communication skills and thrive on collaboration across the organization

It is an advantage if you have experience from the utility sector, process industry, maritime industry, or other critical infrastructure, but it is not a requirement.

We are looking for two profiles and are therefore open to different combinations of competencies. Perhaps you are an experienced specialist in OT and automation, or maybe you have a strong technical foundation and a desire to further develop in the field.

It is an advantage, but not a requirement, that you are proficient in Greenlandic, Danish, and English.

Salary and employment conditions:

Employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement between Naalakkersuisut (Government of Greenland) and the relevant professional organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
