A bit about Maniitsoq:
Maniitsoq is located on Greenland's west coast, just south of the Arctic Circle between Nuuk in the south and Sisimiut in the north. The Maniitsoq area is very beautiful, surrounded by high and jagged mountains with glaciers that stretch down to deep fjords. There are about 3100 inhabitants in the district, with about 2,500 in the town and the rest in the district's three villages. The villages are visited several times a year, and transportation occurs by boat. The town has most modern conveniences, grocery stores, a domestic airport, weekly connections with the coastal ship, and in the summer months, a fast boat route to Nuuk.
Summer recreational activities include hiking in the mountains and sailing among the humpback whales, which are characteristic of our district. In the winter months, the northern lights dance in the evening and night sky, and during the day there are opportunities for alpine and cross-country skiing. Additionally, Maniitsoq has an evening school with many exciting activities, and throughout the year there are opportunities for various sports activities.
