Hunting Warden Assistant for Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control (GFJK), Ittoqqortoormiit/Nuuk. We are looking for a well-qualified and service-minded hunting warden assistant for control tasks. The work will be in Ittoqqortoormiit. Main tasks include monitoring and controlling Greenlandic fishing and hunting in collaboration with GFJK's fishery inspectors and hunting wardens.

Hunting Warden Assistant for Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control (GFJK), Ittoqqortoormiit/Nuuk

We are looking for a well-qualified and service-minded hunting warden assistant for the many challenging tasks of the control at the Regional Office in Nuuk.

The office consists of a total of 7 employees in each of the departments, where the position is below, but the location and work will be in Ittoqqortoormiit.

The main tasks are monitoring and control of Greenlandic fishing and hunting in close collaboration with GFJK's fishery inspectors and hunting officers.

Qualifications

  • Relevant education and experience in fishing and hunting
  • Has completed Arctic Basic Training, is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations in the field of fishing, trapping, and hunting, as well as hunting weapons.
  • You can work independently and are decisive, even when things move quickly.
  • You are stable and have a good overview.
  • You have good communication and collaboration skills with colleagues and partners.
  • You are mature, flexible, and can work under pressure while maintaining an overview.
  • Have a clean criminal record
  • Good health and has a good physique
  • A driver's license is an advantage.
  • The control will take place, primarily, in the Ittoqqortoormiit area.
  • Participate in the control of hunters and trappers on land and at sea.
  • Securing evidence during inspection
  • Prepare control and tour reports
  • Administrative tasks, including maintenance and repair of materials and equipment.
  • Advise and guide on hunting regulations and closed seasons.
  • Local contact with municipal authorities and fishing and hunting organizations.
  • Assist in information campaigns for fishermen, catchers, and municipal consultants in collaboration with GFJK's fisheries inspectors and game wardens.

ABOUT GFJK

Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control (GFJK) is responsible for monitoring, surveillance, and control of Greenlandic fishing, hunting, and trapping. GFJK's main objective is to ensure that Greenland's Self-Government's fishing and hunting legislation is adhered to; this also includes the rules issued under bilateral fishing agreements or as a result of Greenland's participation in international organizations. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Hunting.

GFJK consists of a headquarters in Nuuk and 3 regional offices in Sisimiut, Ilulissat, and Nuuk. There are 17 employees at the headquarters, organized into four departments: IT and International Cooperation, Control, Finance, and HR. The control department includes a control corps consisting of 11 fishery observers, as well as 3 regional offices with a total of 17 fishery and hunting inspectors.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is allocated for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the allocated staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
