About Isikkivik
Isikkivik is located in Sisimiut, Greenland. Isikkivik is under the Department of Social Affairs, Family, and Justice for neglected children and young people between the ages of 13 and 18, with aftercare for ages 18 to 23. The placed children have had a childhood marked by neglect and come from all over Greenland.
Our closest collaboration partners are Qasapermiut and Pilutaq, where we collaborate on inventory and there is a shared workshop as a meeting point for common use.
The pedagogy at Isikkivik is based on a cognitive, resource-oriented, and appreciative approach in a structured environment. We emphasize that they have a stable everyday life with schooling or work training, leisure interests, and a social life outside the institution. On weekends and holidays, we try to offer the children good experiences in nature in the form of cabin trips, hunting and skiing trips, as well as participating in various events in the city.
