Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute short, medium and long-term operational strategies that support the successful development and expansion of the Nalunaq Gold Mine.
• Translate corporate objectives into actionable operational plans that achieve production, safety, sustainability and financial targets.
• Support the implementation of Amaroq Minerals' growth strategy and future mining opportunities within Greenland.
• Provide operational leadership and guidance to site leadership teams to ensure alignment across all functions.

Operational Management

• Lead and oversee the performance of the Mining, Process Plant, Maintenance, Geology, Technical Services and Maintenance teams.
• Ensure mining and processing activities are conducted safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved mine plans and budgets.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operational functions to improve productivity, asset reliability, recovery, cost performance and overall operational effectiveness.
• Monitor key operational KPIs and implement corrective actions where required to achieve business objectives.
• Promote a culture of operational discipline, accountability and performance excellence.

Financial Management

• Lead the preparation and management of annual operating and capital budgets.
• Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce expenditure.
• Prepare business cases and investment proposals for operational improvements, capital projects and mine development activities.
• Ensure financial performance remains aligned with approved budgets and company expectations.

Project and Growth Leadership

• Support underground mine development, infrastructure projects and future operational expansion initiatives.
• Provide operational input into mine planning, equipment selection, procurement strategies and capital investment decisions.
• Work closely with technical teams to maximise the value and longevity of the Nalunaq operation.
• Act as executive sponsor for major operational improvement and change management projects.

People Leadership

• Lead, coach and develop a multi-disciplinary operational leadership team.
• Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures for direct reports.
• Drive succession planning and talent development initiatives across the operation.
• Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that reflects Amaroq's values and supports employee engagement and retention.
• Promote collaboration between expatriate and Greenlandic employees while supporting local workforce development initiatives.

Stakeholder and Community Engagement

• Support positive relationships with Greenlandic authorities, regulators, contractors, suppliers and local communities.
• Represent operations in engagement activities with key stakeholders as required.
• Ensure operational activities support Amaroq's commitments to responsible mining and sustainable development in Greenland.

Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability

• Demonstrate visible leadership in health, safety and environmental performance.
• Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Greenlandic regulations, site procedures and company standards.
• Champion a zero-harm culture and ensure hazards, incidents and risks are proactively managed.
• Promote environmental stewardship and support compliance with environmental permits and monitoring requirements.
• Ensure sustainability and ESG considerations are embedded in operational decision-making.

Other

• Perform other duties reasonably required to support the successful operation of the Nalunaq Mine.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, Engineering, Geology or another relevant technical discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of progressive mining industry experience, including significant operational leadership experience in underground mining environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing integrated mining, processing and maintenance operations.
• Strong understanding of mine planning, production management, asset management and cost control.
• Experience leading large multi-disciplinary teams in remote or camp-based operations.
• Proven ability to deliver operational improvements and manage change effectively.
• Strong commercial acumen and budgeting experience.
• Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder management skills.
• Valid driving licence.
• Eligibility to work in Greenland and travel internationally as required.

Desirable

• Previous experience in Arctic, remote or international mining operations.
• Experience in gold mining operations and underground narrow vein mining environments.
• Familiarity with Greenlandic regulations, permitting requirements and stakeholder engagement practices.
• Experience working within culturally diverse and multinational teams.

The position is rotation based, with 4 on, and 4 weeks off, in a remote place with extreme weather conditions.
