Are you a skilled carpenter or joiner who is so good at your craft that you can teach young people and adults at KTI - Construction and Civil Engineering in Sisimiut?

We are looking for a vocational teacher for our carpentry education who takes pride in well-executed craftsmanship and who wishes to pass on their professional pride and expertise to young people and adults.

If you have teaching experience, it is an advantage, but not a requirement.

KTI Construction and Civil Engineering is a department at Kalaallit Nunaanni Teknikkimik Ilinniarfik (KTI) and presents itself as a modern and resource-rich educational institution with all necessary and modern teaching materials and well-equipped workshops. The school is in constant development and is continuously expanding in line with the needs and desires of society.

About the position:

You will work together with the other teachers to plan and develop the students' educational paths with the aim of training skilled and qualified carpenters who meet the demands of companies.

We would like you to:

• have a relevant vocational education as a carpenter or joiner – preferably supplemented with a higher/technical education.

• be proactive and take responsibility for your tasks and daily life.

• have IT skills at user level.

• be team-oriented and willing to engage in close collaboration with colleagues on solving teaching and development tasks of a professional and pedagogical nature within the basic course, main course, and the school's offerings of course programs.

• speak at least two of the following three languages: English, Danish, and Greenlandic.

• be an empathetic role model.

We wish for the employment relationship to begin with a 3-month probation period.

ABOUT KTI – Vocational School and Gymnasium.

KTI is an educational institution with approximately 150 employees that offers vocational training in Nuuk and Sisimiut in the areas of Iron and Metal, Construction and Civil Engineering, Raw Materials, Language Courses, as well as the upper secondary educations GUX, e-GUX, and North Atlantic high school class, as well as access courses for engineering and marine engineering education.

KTI has operational cooperation with the Technical University of Denmark - ARCTIC – DTU, regarding two engineering programs and TEKNIKA regarding the Marine Engineering program.

In addition, KTI is responsible for the operation of 389 student residences located in Sisimiut.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary - and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment can occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

Housing
Unfurnished staff housing can be allocated for the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be allocated to individuals who already have staff housing or another residence owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the allocated housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the housing, ownership conditions, etc. There may be waiting time for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller shared housing or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.
