Residential institution for people with disabilities Sungiusarfik Ikinngut in Ilulissat is looking for a social pedagogue

The position is for 40 hours a week with varying working hours, including day and evening shifts as well as weekend work. The position also involves trips with resident(s) outside the local area during special and limited periods.

Sungiusarfik Ikinngut is a nationwide residential institution for young people and adults with permanent physical, mental, intellectual, and/or sensory disabilities.

The primary task is to provide care and rehabilitation with the aim of making each resident as independent as possible.

The institution consists of three departments and a protected workshop Sannavik with an associated smaller bakery.

The pedagogue's responsibilities and tasks:

• Work in accordance with Sungiusarfik Ikinngut's educational goals and the special pedagogical methods used
• Create security and care responsibly and supervise the residents.
• Contribute to good cooperation both internally in one's own department and across the other departments
• Work structured, independently, and be able to evaluate practice.
• To work based on the educational goals in practice and assist in creating good frameworks for colleagues' implementation thereof.
• Handle the written pedagogical documentation in a qualified manner

Start date:
The position is desired to be filled by November 1, 2026 or by agreement.

Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and departure travel as well as moving expenses, will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the negotiating organization at the time of commencement.

Housing:
An unfurnished staff housing can be allocated according to the applicable rules at any time. Housing cannot be allocated if the applicant already has a service apartment or lives in a municipal or self-government-owned housing. Payment of rent and deposit will be according to the applicable rules for the allocated housing. The housing is linked to the employment and must be vacated upon termination of employment.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the year of construction, ownership conditions, etc. As there may be a waiting period for a permanent staff housing, temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing or hotel-like apartments, which will be taxable.
