Education Manager for the Maritime Training Center

The Maritime Training Center / Greenland's Maritime Center is seeking an engaged and professionally strong education manager who will help develop and ensure the quality of Greenland's maritime education.

As an education manager, you will play a central role in the school's daily and strategic work with the education programs. You will be part of the school's management and, together with the principal and the rest of the management, ensure that our education programs are conducted with high professional and pedagogical quality and in accordance with applicable rules and requirements in the maritime field.

The position requires both maritime expertise, pedagogical understanding, and good leadership and collaboration skills.

Your primary tasks

As an education manager, you will be responsible for:

leading, coordinating, and developing the school's maritime education programs,

ensuring the professional and pedagogical quality of the teaching,

following up on education plans, study regulations, teaching plans, and learning objectives,

ensuring that the education programs are conducted in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, and relevant international maritime requirements,

participating in the development and revision of the school's education programs,

coordinating teaching, teachers, students, and educational processes,

supporting the professional and pedagogical development of the teachers,

monitoring students' progression, completion, and well-being, as well as contributing to preventing dropouts,

participating in work related to internships, credits, and other education-related matters,

assisting in quality assurance, audits, and regulatory oversight,

collaborating with relevant authorities, maritime companies, internship locations, educational institutions, and other partners,

actively contributing to the school's strategic development and being part of the school's management.

Travel activity is to be expected in connection with the position.

Non-negotiable qualification requirements

To be considered for the position, you must:

at a minimum, have a first-degree fishing skipper or a fishing skipper training,

have completed a pedagogical basic education (PG) or be in the process of completing the education,

be able to speak Greenlandic at a level that enables you to communicate professionally with students, employees, and partners,

be able to write Greenlandic at a professional level.

It is an absolute requirement for the position that the applicant can both speak and write Greenlandic.

We also emphasize that you

have experience from the maritime field and preferably practical experience from shipping or fishing,

have experience with teaching, educational planning, or management,

have knowledge of maritime educational requirements and preferably STCW/STCW-F,

have an understanding of quality assurance and documentation in the education field,

can work structured and independently while also contributing constructively to a management team,

have good collaboration and communication skills,

can make decisions and follow up on agreements and tasks,

have an eye for both the individual student and the school's overall educational development,

are development-oriented and can translate new requirements and needs into concrete educational initiatives,

have good IT skills and are familiar with common administrative systems.

Knowledge of Greenlandic societal conditions, the fishing and shipping industry, and the Greenlandic education system will be an advantage.

Salary and employment conditions

The position is currently salary-fixed corresponding to 36. The salary with fixed salary components and your contribution to pension in LR 36 amounts to DKK 57,531 monthly and DKK 690,372 annually as of April 1, 2026.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for recruitment and relocation, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
