At Qalerualinniat Aalisagarniallu Kattuffiat (QAK) we work to ensure that coastal fishing in Greenland has a strong voice — both when new frameworks need to be created and when everyday life at sea presents practical challenges that require solutions here and now. We are a membership-based organization representing fishermen with a focus on, among other things, shellfish and other fish species, and we fight for development, decent conditions, and a fishery that can support both local communities and future generations.

A large part of our work involves translating rules, quotas, and political decisions into something that makes sense in practice. Therefore, we actively participate in dialogues, hearings, and collaborations where we bring our members' experiences directly into the decision-making spaces. We believe that the best development occurs when knowledge from the sea meets professionalism, management, and strong partnerships.

We are also close to our members' everyday lives through advisory efforts. Among other things, we are involved in running AAPISI/KONFIFA, which works with support and guidance for fishermen and hunters — and here we clearly feel how important it is to provide concrete support when the frameworks change and the need for financial and administrative advice grows.
