Pilutaq i Sisimiut

At Angerlarsimaffik Pilutaq in Sisimiut, we work every day to create a safe, homely, and stable place for girls who need peace, care, and clear adults. We are a social pedagogical residential institution where relationships, presence, and a predictable everyday life are at the core of everything we do.

Our daily life is about supporting girls aged 11-17 who are psychologically vulnerable and often come with difficult experiences in their baggage. Therefore, we work purposefully to build trust, strengthen well-being, and give the girls new, positive experiences with community, responsibility, and mastery – both in the small routines and in the larger steps forward.

We emphasize environmental therapeutic principles and a pedagogy focused on structure, resource perspective, attachment, and relationships. As an employee, you become an important part of a team where we help each other, lift together, and take responsibility for ensuring that everyday life holds together – even when it is demanding. The contact pedagogue role is central because continuity and safe adults mean everything for each girl's development.

We also often use the nature around Sisimiut as a framework for the pedagogical work – for example, in sailing and cabin trips – because it can provide both peace, new perspectives, and strong shared experiences. At the same time, we collaborate with both schools and the healthcare system, so the girls receive the support that makes sense in their lives here and now – and on the way forward.
