At the Environmental Agency for Mineral Resources, we work to ensure that exploration and utilization of Greenland's mineral resources can occur in a manner that takes responsibility for nature, environment, and climate. Our everyday work involves translating knowledge, legislation, and professional assessments into concrete requirements and decisions that can be used in practice – both by authorities, citizens, and resource actors.

We are the environmental authority in the mineral sector and contribute, among other things, to the processing of cases concerning mineral projects – from early investigations to operation and mine closure. A central part of the work is to ensure that projects are environmentally assessed (EIA), that impacts are properly illuminated, and that proportional conditions and mitigating measures are established so that limit values and environmental standards are adhered to.

Professionalism and evidence are at the core of what we do. We base our decisions on monitoring and evidence-based knowledge, and we collaborate closely with independent scientific advisors – including the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources and DCE at Aarhus University – so that our decision-making basis is solid and up-to-date.
