In the Correctional Service in Greenland, we work for a safe society – and for people who have committed crimes to have a real chance to find a better way forward. Our everyday life is about enforcing sentences in a safe and proper manner, but also about meeting people respectfully and professionally, regardless of the situation.

We are present both in the prisons (institutions) and in what is often called the correctional service in freedom, where tasks such as supervision, follow-up, and collaboration with other actors in the local community are significant. This means that we solve tasks in the span between security, relationships, structure, and social professional efforts – and that we depend on each other's professionalism, whether one works with operations, administration, management, employment, health, social pedagogy, or as an officer.

As a workplace, we are characterized by a strong collegial community and a clear sense of purpose: What we do matters – both for the individual and for society. Here, there is room to be curious, learn new things, and take responsibility, and we emphasize integrity, collaboration, and a professional culture where safety and humanity go hand in hand.

We are also in development – both in relation to the tasks and the way we organize ourselves. Among other things, a name change has been decided, where the Correctional Service in Greenland will henceforth have a Greenlandic rooted name: Kalaallit Nunaanni Parnaarussiveqarfiit (in Danish Grønlands Fængsler).
